The KPMG Competitive Alternatives 2014 – Special Report compared the cost of leasing industrial and office space in over 110 locations in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Sydney, Cape Breton was among the lowest-cost locations to lease facilities across all jurisdictions.

Cape Breton Island has vast tracks of land available for commercial development including land within industrial parks, woodlands and former remediated mines sites as well as high-value farm lands that can be used for biomass or agri-food development.
The cost of commercial and industrial real estate in Cape Breton is extremely competitive. Land costs in the region’s industrial parks range from $5,000 to $40,000 per acre ($12,000 to $100,000 per hectare).
